Chances are, you have heard a lot about Botox® injections. In fact, Botox® is one of the safest and most popular cosmetic treatments worldwide. What was once considered an aesthetic medicine treatment for the rich and famous is now accessible to more men and women than ever before. Whether you are seeking to reduce the appearance of existing fine lines and wrinkles, or if you are in your 20’s and 30’s and want to practice preventative anti-aging tactics, Botox® injections may be the perfect treatment for you.

Our smile lines, crow’s feet, and furrowed brow lines are caused by years of repetitive muscle movements in the face. Botox® is a neuromodulator that consists of a protein, Botulinum Toxin Type A. This protein is created from bacteria, much like penicillin is made. Neuromodulators communicate with the brain to temporarily reduce and restrict the movement of those muscles that cause fine lines and wrinkles, giving our facial skin a much-needed rest.

We know you have questions, so before you set foot inside one of our offices, we’re going to answer some of the most common questions straight away.

When is the Right Time to Consider Getting Botox® Injections?

There is no magic age! Botox® is approved for men and women as young as 18 years old; however, we’ve seen patients in their early 30’s and older seek treatment. When you start treatment before fine lines and creases develop, you will train your line-producing muscles not to move as much, making these lines and wrinkles less noticeable as you age.

This doesn’t mean it is ever too late to get Botox®. If you look in the mirror and feel unhappy with the lines, wrinkles, and creases in your reflection, Botox® injections can reduce their existing appearance and keep your face looking radiant and smooth. The choice is yours. The right time to consider getting Botox® injections is when you’re looking for a bit of confidence boost from smoother and refreshed skin.

We must say that Botox® is not for patients who are currently pregnant or nursing, nor for patients who have severe skin disorders over the treatment area.

Where Are Botox® Injections Most Effective?

Botox® has many cosmetic uses. It can be administered just about anywhere on your face where you see deep creases, wrinkles, or fine lines. You can receive Botox® injections in and around your lips to reduce the appearance of smile or frown lines. Botox® is commonly administered on the forehead to smooth furrowed brow lines (especially for male patients). You can also use Botox® to lift eyebrows and diminish the appearance of crow’s feet from the outer corner of your eyes.

When you smile or frown, you’ll notice the lines that appear on your face. These are the areas where Botox® is most effective. Just in case you were wondering, Botox® stays where it is injected. It will not impact any location of your face where it has not been administered. Your body naturally metabolizes Botox® over time, flushing the treatment out of your system.

Will Anyone Know I Got Botox® (Like, in a Bad Way)?

Almost all first-time patients are concerned that Botox® injections will make them look like a stone-faced statue or like they have undergone extensive plastic surgery or experienced horrific paralyzed nerves or droopy eyes. We can thank popular culture and the media for sensationalizing too many stories about Botox® myths and ill-equipped practitioner mistakes.

Cast those fears aside, for our trained practitioners possess a keen awareness of facial anatomy. Our practitioners are highly skilled at administering the precise amount of Botox® in targeted locations based on your treatment goals. The right amount of treatment in the precise exact location will yield natural-looking results. Treatment will not prevent your ability to convey emotion through facial expressions. You will simply look relaxed, refreshed, and radiant. So yes, people will notice, but certainly not in a “bad” way.

Will it Hurt?

Even though treatment is administered from a needle, your Botox® injections should not hurt in the least. Most patients report feeling a slight pinch if anything at all. If you are concerned about pain management, you can discuss your concerns with your practitioner during your Botox® consultation.

We know that not everyone is a fan of needles, and sometimes, the mere uneasiness surrounding any type of injection is enough to turn on your pain receptors. We have a variety of pain management options, including ice to numb the area or safe topical anesthetics in the event you require additional assistance.

At the conclusion of treatment, your injection site may be tender to touch, but this will go away swiftly.

How Fast Will I See Results?

Botox® is a very quick and effective treatment. Some of our patients will see results within 24 to 48 hours. Other patients have noticed significant results within three days. However, the complete results from your treatment will be visible about 1-2 weeks after your injections. You can expect your results to last up to four months, though every patient is different, so results may vary.

During your consultation with one of our practitioners, you will be able to discuss your options for follow-up treatment to maintain your results. You may choose to continue to maintain treatment every four to six months or develop a schedule that satisfies your needs and budget. Top of Form

Is There a Cheaper Alternative?

The short answer is no. Botox® is the gold standard of neuromodulators. Be wary of any heavily discounted products, for they may not be regulated or contain the purified protein that makes Botox® work. Unregulated products may also contain non-sterile ingredients. As you can imagine, unregulated products can cause disastrous side effects including, but not limited to infection, paralysis, or even death.

You always want to receive Botox® treatment from a reputable clinic. At First Impressions Rejuvenation Clinic, we offer two brands of neuromodulators for our patients: Botox® and Nuceiva®. For your own awareness, additional commercial brands of Botulinum toxin include Dysport, Xeomin®, Myobloc®, and Jeuveau®.

Currently, there is no “generic” form of Botox® on the safe and regulated market. Talk to your practitioner about your Botox® injections’ potential cost to determine a financial option that best suits your needs and your budget.

What to Look for in a Botox® Practitioner?

When you are searching for a Botox® practitioner, you want to look for someone knowledgeable, experienced, and compassionate. The right Botox® practitioner is someone who will listen to and address each and every one of your concerns with patience and for clarity and understanding. Our practitioners are non-judgmental and understand patients may be sensitive about seeking cosmetic treatment. We never pressure patients into treatment options that do not feel right to them.

You also want to be mindful of where you receive your treatment. You will want to receive your Botox® injections in a clean and sterile environment and make sure your practitioner adheres to all safety procedures, including proper hand hygiene, single-use injectables, and wearing protective barriers like gloves.

What to Expect When I Get Botox® at First Impressions?

If you are ready to begin your Botox® treatment at First Impressions Rejuvenation Clinic, you can expect exceptional customer service from our caring and dedicated staff. First, you will have a consultation with one of our practitioners to discuss your treatment goals and desired results. Together you will review the lines and wrinkles you want to diminish and determine how often you may want to receive treatment.

For your Botox® injections appointment, we’ll have you sit down in one of our luxurious patient rooms. Your practitioner will explain each step before administering your treatment. After double-checking the treatment areas and numbing the injection site if desired, you may feel a very slight pinch as your practitioner injects the Botox® into your skin. Depending on your treatment area, you will receive anywhere from 3 to 5 Botox® injections. After treatment, the affected area may swell slightly or appear red, but this is perfectly normal. Side effects are mild. Some patients have reported slight bruising, headache, or transient numbness. If you experience any serious side effects, contact your practitioner right away.

Treatment takes about 10-15 minutes. After treatment, you can resume your daily activities, even returning to work if you choose to get your Botox® treatment during your lunch break! It is that swift and convenient.
